Full-time and Part-Time Assistants/Personal Support Workers:

This role could be live-in (sharing life living in one of our 3 homes), OR live-out (you live somewhere locally in Kapiti or Wellington region).
Through friendship and relationships with Core Members, Assistants gain valuable life skills, opportunities for personal growth and self direction, as well as enhanced leadership abilities. More than a job, we offer an exceptional and life changing adventure in friendship and self- discovery. Daily rhythm and responsibilities are much like in any household where members of the household require personal care support:

More importantly Assistants have the responsibility of building community by spending time getting to know people in the home, participating in the spiritual life of the home and community, sharing activities together, and learning about themselves and others as they discover that they can just be themselves and be valued and appreciated for who they are.

L’Arche Kapiti is recruiting for a full-time management, live-in or live-out role: Team Leader/House Leader for one of our residential homes in Paraparaumu.
The House Leader oversees a team of Personal Support Workers who support the home. The House Leader ensures the health and wellbeing of four members with a disability who live in the home. The House Leader is responsible for creating and fostering a safe and home- like environment for the Core Members and other Assistants to live in. The House Leader also works with a Coordination team (based out of the L’Arche office). The House Leader is the bridge between these teams, to ensure information is shared, and decisions can be collaborative. The focus for these two teams is the well-being of Core Members and Assistants in the home, and to ensure that the home is living out the L’Arche International Mission and Identity statements to the best of its ability.
